Today I’m going to show you how to make some simple kitchen curtains. first, measure the width of your window. now multiply that number by 0.75, this will give you the measurement for the width of one curtain panel. so let’s say your window is 32 inches wide, multiply that by 0.75 and you get 24 inches. this will give an extra flow to your finished curtains.
For the height be sure you that you measure from the curtain rod to where you want your curtains to end. and for the kitchen this is typically the windowsill or the bottom of the window frame. now to allow extra fabric for the hem, the casing and a little ruffle on top. just add five inches to your measurement. now cut two panels to the sizes you’ve measured for the length and width, so the first thing that you want to do is hem a half inch on all sides.
And then for the sides of your fabric panel, do a double hem. so that the cut edges are hidden. so now that you’ve sewn your side hems we’re going to take the top part of your fabric and fold it over three inches. and Mark it an inch and a half and two and three-quarter inches this is we’re going to sew along horizontally and this will create the casing or the pocket where your rod will go and a little bit of a ruffle on top of your curtain.
For the bottom hem, fold your fabric over one inch. this will give you room to insert curtain weights and this can be as simple as some LED lures from your fishing tackle box or even just nickels.
